Application Guidelines
A: Please read all the rules and insurance release form
listed below
B: The Parade Committee reserves the right to accept or
reject any application for any reason.
C. The Parade is open to all non-profits and
organizations, cheerleading and drill teams, marching bands, schools,
neighborhood associations, International organizations etc. There is a $35
application fee for each marching unit, payable to 2009 Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade, P.O. Box 471322, Charlotte, NC 28247
D. The fee for a commercial business is $250.,
payable to 2009 Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade, P.O. Box 471322, Charlotte, NC 28247.
E. The fee for actively campaigning political candidates is $200.,
payable to 2009 Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade, P.O. Box 471322, Charlotte, NC 28247
F. Government organizations (city, county, state, federal
and armed forces), are exempt from fees.
G. You are not registered to march until BOTH your
application and registration fee are received.
H. Customized float packages, with signage and driver, are
available on a limited basis. Contact Linda Dyer-Hart for more information.
I. The Parade begins at 10:30 AM, Saturday March 14,
2009.
J. The deadline to apply to march is March 1, 2009. All
applications and fees must be received by that date in order to be eligible to
march.

Parade Rules
- With
the exception of military, police, fire, EMS, and distinguished guests,
eligibility to participate in the Parade is limited to those units
specifically approved by the Parade Committee.
- Organizations
and units participating in the Parade are subject to restrictions of the
following activities, which shall be prohibited in the line of march:
- Any
presentation or representation either immoral or in bad taste which could
bring dishonor to the Irish Race and Culture.
- The
drinking or simulated drinking of intoxicants.
- Participants
under the influence of intoxicants.
- Use
of water pistols, electric shocking devices, etc.
- Throwing
of any souvenirs (such as beads, candy), promotional, or advertising
materials either from floats or by marching units. Souvenirs
may be handed out to the spectators. No flyers may be handed out.
- Firecrackers
and any other explosives.
- The
use of any sign, banner or any advertisement advancing any political or
social cause.
- Organizations
and units participating in the Parade are permitted to carry a single banner
identifying their organization by name and place of origination.
Violators of any of the above rules will be dismissed from the Parade
immediately.
Insurance
Waiver
The applicant and his
organization shall indemnify and hold harmless the City of Charlotte(CC), Dyer- Hart Productions (DHP), Knights of
Columbus (KC), the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee (SP), their officials
and employees, from any and all loss, costs (including reasonable attorney fees and
court costs), damages, expenses and liability arising from the use or occupancy
or anticipated use of any uptown area. The CC, DHP, KC, SP accept no
liability for any actions that may arise. Any insurance protection which may be
necessary during the event is the sole responsibility of the applicant as agent
for his organization.
