Parade Application


A: Please read all the rules and insurance release form listed below

B: The Parade Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any application for any reason.

C. The Parade is open to all commercial and non-profit organizations, cheerleading and drill teams, marching bands, schools, neighborhood associations, International organizations, etc. 

There is a $75 application fee for each non-commercial marching unit, payable to 2020 Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade, 2764 Pleasant Road, Suite A #10622, Fort Mill, S.C. 29708-7299. Note: This fee is subject to a surcharge for large groups as outlined below. The following surcharges apply:

  1. If your group has more than 1 vehicle in addition to marchers, there is a $50 per additional vehicle surcharge. Note:Floats that are being pulled by a another vehicle are considered 1 entry. This is only applicable to the groups listed above and applies only to full size, four-wheeled vehicles.
  2. Large Non-Profit Groups Surcharge –  As the parade grows, we have some groups that have grown very large. We felt that it’s not fair to have the same fee for a group of 100 or more people as it is a group of 10. In addition, the large groups add extra costs to the parade like security. Please keep in mind that 100% of the application fees pay for the operation of the parade. This fee structure will only apply to groups of 75 marchers or more. When you apply, you can let us know the number of folks in your group and we will calculate your fee as follows:
    1. 1-75 in group – $75
    2. 75 – 200 in group – $125
    3. 200 – 300 in group – $175.

  We will send you a confirmation of receipt of your application that will include amount due for your group.

D. The fee for a commercial business is $300, payable to 2020 Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade, 2764 Pleasant Road, Suite A #10622, Fort Mill, S.C. 29708-7299.

E. The fee for actively campaigning political candidates is $250, payable to 2020 Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade, 2764 Pleasant Road, Suite A #10622, Fort Mill, S.C. 29708-7299

F. Select government organizations (first responders police, fire & active military only) are exempt from fees. All other state, local & federal applicants are considered regular non-profit groups

G. You are not registered to march until BOTH your application and registration fee are received.

H. All paid application fees are final. There are no refunds and there is a $35 charge for returned checks.

I. Customized float packages, with signage and driver, are available on a limited basis. Contact Linda Dyer-Hart for more information. Note -The floats are built and rented out by third parties and the parade has no direct involvement in the transaction.

J. Group Escorts – One of the biggest challenges in a parade this size is to keep it moving smoothly and on time. In order to facilitate that, we have decided to implement “Group Escorts”. Every group that has more than 20 marchers will be required to have a minimum of two (2) escorts. The escorts should be chosen from your group and will be responsible for keeping your group moving so that there are no gaps in the parade due to a slow group or one that is performing too long. We feel that this will make for a better viewing experience for the spectators and avoid the large gaps that have been getting more frequent. We will have our volunteers watching to make sure this rule is obeyed. Violators may not be invited back next year.

K. Third Party Entrants / Advertising – Third party entrees and/or advertising is strictly prohibited. By completing the application, it is understood that you are applying for your group only. Also, there is no third party advertising allowed. Each group is allowed one banner to identify themselves. Anyone found breaking this rule will not be allowed to march the following year.

L. Solicitation Of Funds – Solicitation of funds or donations by any group participating in the parade is strictly prohibited and subject to immediate removal from the parade.

M. No throwing of any object, whether in a vehicle or if marching. This is a safety issue and very strictly enforced. Anyone seen throwing any objects will not be allowed to march in the parade the following year. We also do not allow any paper items to be distributed. This includes flyers, tickets, advertising etc. No items are allowed to be handed out from vehicles as it encourages spectators to approach moving vehicles, which is a safety issue. We do allow your group to hand out items such as souvenirs, candy, beads, etc., but they must be handed directly to the person and not thrown.

N. The Parade steps off at 11 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2020.

O. The deadline to apply to march in the parade is February 21, 2020. All applications and fees must be received by that date in order to be eligible to march in the parade. We must also receive your group bio by that date or we reserve the right to not have our emcee identify your group.

P. Insurance Waiver – Submitting this application signifies agreement that your group and/or members of your group shall Indemnify and Hold Harmless The City Of Charlotte, the Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade Foundation, Inc. (CSPDF) and Dyer Hart Productions (DHP), their officials and employees from any and all loss, cost (including reasonable attorney fee and court costs), damages, expense and liability arising from the use or occupancy or anticipated use of any uptown area. The City of Charlotte, CSPDF and DHP accept no liability for any actions that may arise. Any insurance protection which may be necessary during the event is the sole responsibility of the applicant (company/group/individual).
